GLOUCESTER CITY RECEIVES $575,000 IN GRANTS FROM NJDCA
Funds to be used for City-wide Housing Rehabilitation, infrastructure improvements along Cherry Street
GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ -- Mayor Dayl Baile is pleased to announce that the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs has awarded Gloucester City two Small Cities Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) totaling $575,000 for a City-wide Housing Rehabilitation program and to make water and sewer improvements along Cherry Street, between 6th and 8th Streets.
“Ensuring that people have safe housing and that the City’s basic infrastructure is functional and in good repair are two of the most critical functions of government,” Baile said. “These awards will help income-qualified homeowners make needed repairs to their homes, and will allow us to continue our work of improving water and services in the community.” Baile noted that the Housing Rehabilitation grant was awarded for $175,000 and the Cherry Street grant totaled $400,000.
Both of the City’s applications were prepared by Triad Associates of Vineland – a community and economic development firm that has secured over $1.7 billion in funding for its clients over the past 47 years.
“We thank the Department of Community Affairs for these awards and for their commitment to Gloucester City,” concluded Baile. “We look forward to implementing these awards for the benefit of our residents.”
