A tax sale is held in January of each year for unpaid prior year taxes and utilities. The tax sale usually takes place before the Martin Luther King Holiday.

The tax sale list is advertised in the legal section of the Gloucester City News.

All payments must be made with certified checks, cash, money orders or wire transfer. Tax Sale lists are ready usually the first week of January.

If you would like the list emailed to you in Microsoft Excel format, send an email requesting it to this email. Include your first and last name or company name in the request. Information regarding the annual tax sale can be found in NJSA 54:5-19 ETC.

The New Jersey statues may be found at your local library or online.

A tax lien DOES NOT give you the right to trespass or take possession of the property. This is done through the foreclosure process.

We urge you to know the tax sale procedure and research any property before you make a bid.
